Salsa Sundays at Orchard Beach, a laid-back outdoor salsa dance party located in Parking Section 5 of Orchard Beach, The Bronx. This event runs from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend, from 12-5pm. The best part? The dancing is free, although parking fees do apply.
Known as “El Condado de la Salsa” (The Borough of Salsa), The Bronx has deep roots in Latin jazz and salsa, making it the perfect setting for this lively event.
Salsa Sundays have been a beloved tradition in New York City for over fifty years, originating during the height of the city’s salsa scene in the early 1970s. By attending, you become a part of this living connection to the past.
Remember to bring your umbrella, chair, and cooler, and get ready to dance the day away. If you don’t have access to a car, you can conveniently take a bus to the Orchard Beach Bus Terminal.
Community DJs will be spinning a mix of salsa, charanga, and cha-cha-cha, creating the perfect ambiance for hundreds of dancers. While there tends to be more salsa on 1 like in Puerto Rico, feel free to dance to whatever style you prefer. ¡Todo bien!
If you enjoy spending quality time with loved ones and have a passion for salsa dancing, you won’t want to miss out on the vibrant atmosphere of salsa Sundays.
